Job Search?

I am currently unemployed. My benefits have ran out. Things are getting very stressful. The reason I lost my job was partly because I’m a caregiver of my father. My mother was killed in a car accident. I worked 5 days and spent the weekends taking care of him and his home. I became so distracted at work I was making mistakes. And I was having health issues and lost time from my job. I realize my mistake. Now I’m having a hard time finding another job. I’m more than ready to take my life back. Hard lesson learned. How honest should I be with future employment.? I’m sure they don’t want to hear all of what happened in my life. My unemployment time is becoming painfully obvious. I’m sure that’s it noticed when I send out my resumes. I’m online everyday and not hearing much back. Anyone have some advice?

Job search?

I’m in my early 30’s and I have been working the same type of job since I was 18. I’d really like to find something else to get into, as far as work goes. I’m looking at school (which I tried a couple of times and had some trouble with working and going to school.) Any suggestions as far as a job where i can recieve on the job training, or become certified to do something else, or a temp agency. Any answers are welcome.

Resume Writing?

Can you give me some useful tips for writing a resume. I am applying for secretarial/clerical positions. There are plenty of resume templates online. However, some of the templates are simply black and white, while others are vivid and colorful. Which one should I choose. The colorful ones are more appealing, but I want the person who is reading my resume to think that I am serious about the job.

Please comment, especially if you are a boss, or have been through a similar dilemma.
